This privacy policy was created to demonstrate our commitment to letting users like you know what information we collect, as well as why, when, and how we collect it. We collect the personal information you willingly disclosed to us when you use any of the forms on our website. These forms include the Contact Us form, the Sign-Up to Be a Tutor, and any of the Schedule a Session With forms.

Information Automatically Collected

We automatically collect certain information when you visit and use the TutorX website. This information includes your behavior on our site, including how and when you use our website. This information is needed to maintain security, and for our internal analytics purposes.

The information we automatically collect is your log and usage data. This data includes your location (which country you are situated in), the time you spent on our website, when you visited our website, pages viewed, the device being used, and how you arrived at our site.

We process your information to provide and improve our Services, to communicate with you, for fraud prevention, and to comply with law. We also process other personal information with your consent.

Why Do We Process Your Information?

We process your information to deliver and facilitate the delivery of services to you. Through our contact us form, we process your information to respond to your inquiries and solve any issues you might have had with our Services. We send emails with the personal information you provided to us about changes to our terms and policies, as well as details of our services. We process your information with your consent for communications with us, the tutors, and/or the tutees. We process your information for you to find a tutor or tutee or to create your profile as a tutor.

We process your information only when we believe it to be necessary and have a legal reason to do so and to provide you with services to enter into or fulfill our contractual obligations, to protect your rights, or fulfill our legitimate business interests.

The GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and UK GDPR require us to explain the valid legal bases we rely on to process your personal information. We rely on the following legal bases to process your personal info: your consent, legal obligations, and vital interests.

4. When and with Whom Do We Share Your Personal Information

We share your information automatically through a web and mobile analytics application called Google Analytics. For our website hosting, we use WordPress, which automatically shares information about how users use our website. None of the information shared to Google Analytics or WordPress is classified as sensitive information. However, a tutor on our website is required to share their personal information on our website, some of which may be sensitive to the tutor. This information may be displayed, and thus, shared with other third-parties. 

We also may need to share your personal information in a business transfer. We may share or transfer your information in connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger or acquisition of all or a portion of our business to another company.

5. Is Your Information Transferred Internationally?

We may transfer, store, and process your information in countries other than your own. Our servers are mostly located in the United States; however, if you are accessing our Services from outside the U.S. or inside the U.S., please be aware that your information may be shared with third parties in other countries.

If you are a resident in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, these countries may not necessarily have data protection laws or other similar laws as comprehensive as those in your country. We will take all necessary measures to protect your personal information in accordance with this privacy notice and applicable law.

6. How Long Do We Keep Your Information?

We keep your information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this privacy notice unless otherwise required by law. We keep your personal information for as long as it is necessary for the purposes set out in this privacy notice. 

When we have no ongoing legitimate business need to process your personal information, we will either delete or anonymize such information, or, if this is not possible, then we will securely store your personal information and isolate it from any further processing until deletion is possible.

7. How Do We Keep Your Information Safe?

We have implemented appropriate and reasonable technical and organizational security measures designed to protect the security of any personal information we process. 9. Controls for Do-Not-Track Features

Most web browsers and some mobile operating systems and applications have a Do-Not-Tract feature of setting you can activate to signal your privacy preference not to have data about your online browsing activities monitored and collected. At this stage, no uniform technology standard for implementing DNT signals has been finalized. As such, we do not currently respond to any mechanisms that automatically communicates your choice not to be tracked online.

10. Do California Residents Have Specific Privacy Rights?

California Civil Code Section 1798.83 permits California residents to request and obtain information about categories of personal information we disclosed to third parties. If you are a California resident and would like to make such a request, you may submit your request by emailing us at tutorx.us@gmail.com, through Instagram direct messages, or by visiting our Contact Us page. If an authorized agent is exercising your rights on your request, that agent must submit proof that they have been validly authorized to act on your behalf.

CCPA Privacy Notice

The California Code of Regulations defintes a “resident” as:

  2. Every individual who is domiciled in the State of California and outside of the State of California for a temporary or transitory purpose

We may use your personal information for our own business purposes, such as for undertaking internal research. This is not considered as selling your personal information.

TutorX has not sold any personal information to third parties in the last twelve months. TutorX has disclosed the following categories of information (these categories of information can be found in number four of the table of contents) to third parties.

Your rights to your personal data

  • Right to request deletion of your personal data through this form. If you ask us to delta your personal information, we will respect your request and delete your personal information, subject to certain exceptions provided by law, such as (but not limited to) the exercise by another consumer of his or her right to free speech, our compliance requirements resulting from a legal obligation, or any processing that may be required to protect against illegal activities.
  • Right to be informed.
